Cook together, shape together: The Studierendenwerk recipe competition
In recent years, numerous Studierendenwerke across Germany have successfully organised recipe competitions. Now students in the Tübingen-Hohenheim university region also have the opportunity to contribute their ideas and actively help shape the refectory menus.
The Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim invites students of its affiliated universities to submit their own proposals for meat-free main dishes in the 2025/26 recipe competition. The aim is to further develop the range of meals on offer and to enrich the refectory menus together with the student body.
“We want to reflect the eating habits and preferences of our students in the refectory. This competition creates space for creativity and shows that sustainable, meat-free dishes can be excellently realised in communal catering,” explains Edith Hein, Managing Director of the Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim.
Process and participation
- Submission: Vegetarian or vegan recipes may be submitted from 1 November until 14 December 2025 by email to rezeptwettbewerb [at] sw-tuebingen-hohenheim [dot] de
- Content: Submissions must include a title, list of ingredients (for four people), preparation steps and cooking/baking times. A photo may be attached optionally.
- Selection: A jury will choose eight recipes which, in March 2026, will be cooked in the refectories in Tübingen Morgenstelle, Tübingen Wilhelmstraße, Hohenheim and Reutlingen together with their authors, and then judged by the guests.
Prizes
All eight selected participants will receive a refectory voucher worth €75. The four dishes that achieve the highest ratings in the final vote will be permanently included in the meal plans.
