The comprehensive refurbishment of the refectory Wilhelmstraße in Tübingen started in August 2019. In the meantime, a temporary facility in the Shedhalle on the area of the former Tübingen slaughterhouse will supply for the employees and students.

Opening hours and offer
The provisional is open from Monday to Friday 11:15 am to 2:15 pm continue to offer a daily menu and vegetarian menu, a selection of dishes and the offer of the day and a salad buffet. The daily menus and the dish of the day will be 15/10 cents cheaper, because the soup counter is set.
Information about the location
The existing hall will be used for dining and as a dining room. Kitchens, warehouses, sanitary facilities and offices are housed in containers. The Shedhalle offers around 530 seats. There, about 2,000 meals can be spent daily. The hall is owned by the city of Tübingen and is leased from the Vermögen und Bau, Amt Tübingen for the time of refectory refurbishment and left to the Studierendenwerk for use.
InfoPoint & BAföG-InfoPoint
The general InfoPoint also moves to the Shedhalle. The BAföG InfoPoint is housed in the university building in Tübingen’s Keplerstraße 2 and starts operations on the 16th of September.
Cafeteria
If you want to enjoy a coffee after lunch, you can use the machines in the Shedhalle or the cafeteria Geiwi (Neuphilologicum) in the Brechtbau. The philological institute is located next to the slaughterhouse area.
The refurbishment of the cafeteria Wilhelmstraße in Tübingen began in of August 2019. The modernization, renovation and reconstruction of the listed building by architect Paul Baumgarten will take about four years. On July 26, 2019, the cafeteria Wilhelmstraße opened for the last time before the reconstruction.
method
In the course of the construction project, the dining halls will be modernised and the kitchens technically updated. The functional building in Nauklerstraße, which currently houses the kitchens, staff and technical rooms, will be completely demolished and rebuilt. In the entrance area of the refectory, 112 student workstations will be created so that the building can also be used as a place of learning in the future.
background
The refurbishment of the refectory was decided by the Ministry of Finance and the university in 2015. In a feasibility study, the refurbishment in combination with a new construction of the kitchen and operations building had proven to be the best solution to meet the various functional, economic and heritage concerns.
