Starting signal for the new refectory Wilhelmstraße
Tübingen. The Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim will reopen the listed refectory Wilhelmstraße on September 30. A soft opening phase with limited services is planned for the first few weeks. This will allow the refectory team to test and adjust operations and internal processes in a quiet phase before the refectory runs at full speed during the semester. “This step is important to ensure that we can offer our guests a smooth and high-quality service from the start of lectures in October,” explains canteen manager Rudi Gaiser.
Capacity and offer
In addition to a modern kitchen and food counter, the renovated refectory also has front cooking areas. In future, up to 3.500 meals per day will be produced here. The offer is complemented by a spacious cafeteria on the first floor. In addition to breakfast, snacks (sandwiches etc.) and drinks, the cafeteria will also offer hot specials such as pizza and pasta. A modern coffee bar completes the offer.
Opening hours
The building is open from Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm in the first few weeks. Lunch is served from 11:15 am to 2:00 pm. The cafeteria is open from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm, the Infopoint is open daily from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. From October 14, it is planned to gradually extend the opening hours of the building.
Opening week
We are celebrating the reopening from 14 to 18 October 2024 with a special welcome week. All kinds of Swabian classics (such as lentils with spaetzle or Maultaschen) will be on the menu under the motto ‘Leckeres aus’m Ländle’. There will also be special offers in the foyer every day. Our guests can look forward to free coffee from our local partner cofymi, a wheel of fortune promotion by Tübingen cinemas, live music with the university’s big band and great prizes in the opening competition organised by the Studierendenwerk. Our guests can also create lasting memories with our photo box.
We cordially invite all students, university staff and anyone else who is interested to visit the Wilhelmstraße refectory and become part of this new chapter!
