Stuwe reacts to serious knife attack in hall of residence
The Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim has reacted with great dismay to the knife attack in the Schelmenwasen hall of residence, in which three people were injured, some of them seriously, in Nürtingen at the weekend. Our thoughts are with the injured students and we wish them a quick and complete recovery!
Understandably, all residents of the hall of residence have a growing need for safety after the tragic incident at the weekend. Therefore, the Studierendenwerk, together with the Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Applied Sciences, will do everything in its power to ensure that the students can feel safe in their home again.
In a personal meeting on Monday, Managing Director Oliver Schill and HfWU Rector Professor Dr. Andreas Frey discussed further security measures. Since Saturday, the building has been guarded around the clock by a security service. This special protection will now be maintained in the coming weeks. The management will also take a look at the situation for themselves at a meeting on Thursday. The Studierendenwerk also assures that all doors in the building are fully functional and lockable and are regularly checked by our caretaker! It is therefore not possible for strangers to enter the building without a key.
Our hall of residence administration is currently examining the extent to which further protective measures, such as adjusting the lighting situation, are possible. Furthermore, our team at the psychotherapeutic counselling centre is open to all residents who are still in shock after the tragic events.
