In accordance with § 4 of the Studierendenwerk-Act (StWG), the Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim, as a public-law institution, has three bodies: the Representative Assembly, the Administrative Board and the Managing Director. Pursuant to § 13 (1) StWG, it is also subject to the legal supervision of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts.

The number of students enrolled fell by 0.5% compared to the previous year to 52,334 (winter semester 2023/2024: 52,588 students enrolled).

The Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim is primarily financed by three central sources of income. Sales revenue includes proceeds from the canteens and cafeterias as well as rental income. In accordance with the Studierendenwerk-Act (StWG), semester fees are levied on all enrolled students at the universities affiliated with the Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim. In the 2024/25 winter semester, these ranged from €44.50 to €56.00. The Office for Educational Assistance is refinanced from state funds, and the Studierendenwerk also receives financial assistance from the state of Baden-Württemberg to fulfil its public mandate. Investments in university catering and other areas, as well as projects, were also funded by public funds.
On average, the Studierendenwerk employed a total of 337 people in 2024. Women accounted for 71.2% of the workforce. With employees from 26 countries, the Studierendenwerk sees itself as a multinational team. On average, employees were 48 years old and had been with the Studierendenwerk for 14 years. Almost half worked part-time. The proportion of severely disabled employees was 8.23%.
More than 1,300 applications were received for 44 job vacancies, and 67 new employees were hired in 2024.
In May 2024, staff council elections were held with a turnout of over 65%; 235 valid ballots with a total of 1,890 votes were cast. During the reporting period, the staff council was involved in numerous measures, including new hires, promotions and dismissals. Cooperation with management was constructive, even on controversial issues.
In 2024, the Studierendenwerk increased its focus on social media: the Instagram channel ‘my stuwe’ grew to around 4,000 followers, and new video formats provided insights into student halls of residence and service information. In addition, the public relations team was active at numerous freshers’ fairs and information events, carried out promotional campaigns at various canteen locations and published the Stuwe Compass for first-year students.
