Support for studying abroad – Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim

Please note

BAföG payments (grants and loans) for studies in Germany cannot simply be taken abroad. You need to make a special application for support to time spent abroad (study course or work experience).

Please note the special regulations for funding stays abroad during the Corona pandemic. You can also find information on this at www.bafög.de, a page of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
Note: In addition to the usual application documents for funding stays abroad, another two forms are required due to the regulations currently in force. You can find these here and here

Applying for BAföG for abroad

Different BAföG offices all over Germany are responsible for providing BAföG for abroad, depending on which country you are heading to as a student or pupil.

You must make your application for educational support for abroad directly with the BAföG office responsible for your destination country. You can find more information on which office is responsible for which country at www.studentenwerke.de.

BAföG for Asia and Turkey

The Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim is responsible for educational support for those going to Asia and Turkey. If you are completing a course or gaining work experience in one of the countries listed below or would like to visit a college there, please apply for BAföG for abroad at our BAföG Office in Reutlingen.
