Pedagogical concept

The basis of our educational work in the daycare centres is to support the children on their way to developing their own personality, building on their strengths and becoming independent. In doing so, we take their individual life situation into account and adapt our actions accordingly. In this way, we can offer students and academic university employees high-quality care, education and upbringing for their children that complements their family and contributes to the compatibility of studies, work and family.

Getting off to a good start - settling in

It is important to us to offer each child a successful introduction to the daycare through an individually designed settling-in period, so that the child feels comfortable and well received. While accompanying the child through the settling-in period, the parents/caregivers get a first insight into the pedagogical way of working and are in intensive exchange with the professionals.

Offer freedom

In our daycare centres, we give the children space to discover the world through play and learning. This requires:

emotional security
space for imagination and creativity
an environment that encourages play, action and research
stimuli and suggestions that support the child’s development
space for movement
physical experiences with all senses
linguistic stimulation and everyday support

Document development steps

The observation and documentation of developmental progress and educational processes of the children in the daycare is prescribed by the “Orientierungsplan für Bildung und Erziehung in baden-württembergischen Kindergärten und weiteren Kindertageseinrichtungen” (Orientation plan for education and upbringing in daycare centres in Baden-Württemberg) and represents an essential part of our work. The developmental steps of the children are documented in a personal children’s folder. On the basis of the intensive observation and documentation, a development discussion with the parents/guardians takes place at least once a year.

Provide orientation

Living together in the daycare centre is very important to us. Interaction with each other is characterised by mutual respect and appreciation. With the help of clear rules and rituals that are comprehensible to the children, e.g. when going out, in the morning circle and at mealtimes, a structure is created that offers the children support and orientation.

Helping to shape and develop

We welcome children and parents/guardians to contribute their wishes, suggestions and ideas, but also complaints and criticism. Our offers and projects are oriented towards the children’s interests. For example, they can actively participate in our pedagogical work within the framework of the so-called children’s conference.

Cooperation with parents and other caregivers

For successful pedagogical work, good cooperation with the family is very important, as they know their child best. Therefore, we wish for an educational partnership between parents/caregivers and the pedagogical staff, which is characterised by open communication, mutual respect and appreciation. Our goal is to enter into an educational exchange in order to jointly promote the interests and strengths of the child. Transparency in the daily educational work is of great importance to us. Parents and caregivers are involved in the daycare’s daily routine during door-to-door talks, initial and developmental talks, parents’ evenings, meetings with the parents’ council and celebrations.
