Insurance coverage is provided for insured students in the event of accidents that occur in connection with their studies and the university and for which statutory accident insurance does not provide coverage.
This means that accidents outside the university and outside the direct route to and from the university are insured, i.e., accidents that are not considered accidents within the meaning of Section 8 of Book VII of the Social Security Code or accidents at work within the meaning of the pension provisions for civil servants and soldiers. In case of doubt, the decision of the statutory accident insurance provider or the authority responsible for accidents at work is decisive.
In particular, accidents that occur in direct connection with classes or student union events are insured. It does not matter where these classes and events take place. Insurance coverage also applies to educational excursions, sightseeing tours, and other trips directly related to events organized by the university, the student union, or the student services organization.
Insurance cover also extends to sporting events organized by the official bodies of the university or the student body or carried out on their behalf.
This also includes sporting activities during leisure time, but accidents during organized association sports are excluded.
This also includes work at a scientific institute, provided that it is required by the university. This also applies to scientific work and activities carried out by medical students at the respective scientific institutes and hospitals during the semester and semester breaks.
In the event of death, accident insurance covers all accidents in everyday life.
Please note that the description of accident insurance coverage can only contain an excerpt from the insurance terms and conditions of the Tübingen-Hohenheim Student Union on which the contract is based.
