LogiCup returnable deposit system

Due to the increased amount of waste in its cafeterias, the Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim has started a pilot project in WS 2020/21. Those who buy their coffee from vending machines at certain locations can use the LogiCup reusable cup for a deposit of €1. The reusable cup is then returned at associated return machines by means of a barcode.

The special feature of the deposit system: LogiCup returnable cups are made of 100% recyclable polypropylene (PP). They are manufactured and distributed by LOGICYCLE GmbH. The cups are characterised by a high durability. In fact, according to the manufacturer, they can withstand hundreds of washings without damage. With a capacity of 0.2 to 0.3 litres, the LogiCup is sized to hold a standard hot drink. The cup fits comfortably in the hand and you won’t burn your fingers thanks to the so-called thermal ribs.

The design picks up on various silhouettes of famous buildings from the university region of Tübingen and the surrounding area – including the town hall of the city of Tübingen, Sigmaringen Castle or the Reutlingen Town Hall. So when designing the cup, a lot of emphasis was placed on regionality and ties to the homeland.
