The Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim is a public body and may settle its affairs through its own articles of association within the law. According to Section 4 of the Student Services Organisations Act in Baden-Württemberg, the student services organisation has the following three management groups:
a managing director | an administrative board | a representatives’ council
The managing director manages the business of the student services organisation, represents the student services organisation in court and out of court and is the head of personnel matters. Edith Hein has been appointed as managing director. The managing director is regularly appointed for a period of office of six years.
The administrative board appoints the managing director, monitors and advises him. It also makes decisions about determining the budget plan and the annual accounts and using any annual profits. It is also the task of the administrative board to appoint an auditor, formally approve the managing director’s work regarding finances and issue the rules concerning contributions. The administrative board consists of three student representatives, three university management representatives, three outside experts and one representative from the Ministry of Science.
The representatives’ council makes decisions about the articles of association and elects the members of the administrative board. The members of the representatives’ council are the rectors and chancellors of the universities by virtue of their office and elected full-time lecturers and students at the universities where the Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim provides social support. Regardless of the number of students at the individual institutes, between two and four representatives are elected from each.

The Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim is a member of the Deutsches Studentenwerk (DSW), the voluntary association bringing together the 58 student services organisations in Germany.
The legally independant Studierendenwerke Tübingen-Hohenheim and Ulm work together in the Interessengemeinschaft der Studierendenwerke in order to speak more effectively with one voice for the needs of the students.
The student services organisation is a member of the Baden-Württemberg state Paritätische social welfare association.
We are partners of the Hochschulregion Tübingen-Hohenheim – a cooperative association of different universities in our catchment area.
